heaven and nature sing

Thanks a million and three Chea (ya, you deserve more than just thanks a million)! You captured my vision and turned it into my Christmas card. I couldn't be happier! The real story behind the picture is to come in a separate post.

On a side note:
There has been some controversy about my Christmas card. Is it "heaven and nature sing" or "saints and angels sing"? My observation is that the Hymn Book says saints and angels and all others are the first. I am not sure as to why but if you, please enlighten us all...(Lance?)

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Words: Isaac Watts, The Psalms of David, 1719.

Additional info:

"Joy to the World! The Lord Will Come" is an adaptation of the popular Christmas carol, Joy to the World. It was included in A Collection of Sacred Hymns (Kirtland, Ohio), the first Latter Day Saint hymnal published in 1835 or 1836.

The adapted version was short lived, and was not included in its entirety in subsequent hymnals. However, the changes typify the millennial expectation and theology of the early Latter Day Saint church. The version of the song currently published in the hymnal of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses the Phelps text--except for the first two lines, which reflect Watts' original words.

More info than you probably wanted…but hey…you asked.

Many of the hymns have altered verses…and tunes…you should hear Jantzen's reggae version of God Speed the Right.

I did forget to mention — love the photo.

By the by, one more boy and then a little girl and it'd be déjà vu — you've got the Cliff, HB, & Larry. Now, you need a Jeff & cs.

I think there is this thing in music called a "verse" and sometimes in this thing called a "verse" the words change. So perhaps this song has 2 of these "verses" and one is the former, and one is the latter. I just sing my own words real loud so I dont hear the actual words, but at church you sing real soft so no one can hear.
